The concept of testing

Testing is the language used when writing SMS. Its characteristics:

An abundance of abbreviations (Spocky noki!- good night!)

Disregard for the rules of spelling and punctuation (Che chiba nada)

Highlighting the telephone argot. (Change your SIM card, I’ll use it)

The presence of profanity.(Well, you’re a kazel!!!)

Transmission through words and signs of various emotions (for example, three exclamation marks at the end of a statement convey anger or delight) – (Where the hell are you!!!)

Using numbers to denote a part of a word (to4- exactly)

Linguistic aspects of SMS

Text compression. The volume of SMS is limited, so you need to figure out how to put the maximum content in a minimum of characters. You need to have the ability to collapse the text. This happens at the expense of different levels:

1) Graphic For Example: right now- now, how-how-much, I’ll call- I’ll call

2) Syntactic for example: the use of one–part sentences – I’ll come later. The use of non-verbal constructions – Do I need a car?

3) Morphological Use of word forms where there are fewer signs. For example: I’m GOING shorter than I’m LEAVING;

4) The word-formative Use of truncations, abbreviations, for example, univer, TSUM, biohim..

5) Lexical. The use of synonyms is shorter HERE than HERE; SHOP is shorter than store

6) Transliteration – the need to type Russian words in Latin. For example: Kypi moloko. (Buy milk)

Thus, adolescents differ sharply from youth not only in appearance, but in the type of leading activity. In communication, they are also different people. The 1st category prefers communication with friends, parents, and the 2nd category – with a loved one, communication with parents is reduced.

The level of popularity of SMS is:33/ 50*100 =66% in the younger teens.

48/50*100=96% in adolescence. (data from the answers to question 2)

This suggests that 66% of students in grades 5-6 use SMS services, and 96% are students in grades 10-11.

A study conducted to identify the level of popularity of a new form of communication – SMS showed that SMS services are widely used by students of the MOE “Secondary School No. 12”.

The study confirmed that with the advent of mobile phones, the opportunities of schoolchildren have expanded and become more accessible. The communication of youth is more intense than that of younger teenagers.

The study was based on a certain scheme: we decided on the topic of the work, outlined goals and objectives, started searching for relevant literature, studied SMS as something new in our lives, chose the object of research (2 age groups), analyzed the types of SMS, developed questions for the questionnaire, conducted a survey, identified the level of popularity of SMS, counted the number of The percentage of these responses to the total number of respondents was calculated, the results were analyzed and conclusions were drawn.

Our hypothesis was confirmed. Indeed, the new form- SMS is quite popular among students of secondary school No. 12, all the conditions are available for this: the presence of cell phones, the ability to use this mobile communication service, there are various objects of communication.

Despite the unusual, little-studied nature of SMS, it is necessary to recognize the fact of its existence as a new form of communication. We hope that the SMS language, as well as the mobile communication service itself, will develop further.
